Spring 2017 Democratic Forum

The Orleans County Democratic Committee is proud to present a Democratic Forum with Sarah Hart Clark, Deputy State Director for Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. This forum will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 7:00 PM in the Curtis Room of the Hoag Library in Albion. Topics to be addressed: Immigration, Farm Labor, and the Rural Economy.

These Forums are quarterly opportunities for Democrats to share information and views about important issues affecting Orleans County.

2017 Democratic Rural Conference

The New York State Democratic Rural Conference will hold their 2017 Annual Conference on April 21 – 22, 2017, at the Marriott Syracuse Downtown. The conference is open to any county committee member that joins the NYSDRC as an associate member for $10.00. Conference rate for rooms at this fabulously renovated venue should be ~$139 if booked by April 7, 2017. Those committee members interested can register for the conference at: http://www.nysdrc.org. (Originally the rate was through March 20, so you may see that date mentioned on some of the room reservation pages. But, if you continue on with the steps to reserve a room you should see the rate good through April 7.)

The Marriott has a parking garage at 100 Harrison Place. Rates are: $12 for valet DAY event parking, $5 for event DAY self-parking, $18 for overnight valet parking, and $15 for overnight self-parking.

January 2017 Training Events

The New York State Democratic Rural Conference has provided information on two training events that will be taking place in the very near future.

1. The Democratic Women of the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes is sponsoring a “Candidate and Supporter” training workshop in Corning on January 14 from 1:00-6:00 PM. It will take place at the Corning Radisson Hotel, 125 Dennison Parkway East, Corning, NY, 14830. The conference registration cost is $30 per person with a special discount being offered for new and returning members of DWSTFL. It will feature presentations and curriculum from Leslie Danks-Burke, Marci Daniels and Denise King. Register at http://www.DemWomenSTFL.com. The DRC is a co-sponsor of this event.

2. The New York State Working Families Party, The Rural Caucus of the New York State Young Democrats, the Cortland County Democratic Committee and the St. Lawrence County Democratic Committee are sponsoring a candidate training workshop to recruit, train, and elect the next generation of progressive leaders. The “Running to Win” workshop will be held from 11:30AM until 6:30PM on Saturday, January 21 (the day immediately following Inauguration Day) at the Cortland County Democratic Committee Headquarters, 129 Port Watson Street, Cortland, NY 13045. There will be an optional preliminary training session held the night before at the same location. Organizers are also working to develop a social function to coincide with this training event that will be held in Cortland. The professional staff of the Working Families Party will offer the training that has been based on the highly regarded Wellstone Training Program. There is no cost for this training workshop but attendees will be responsible for the cost of their lunch.
